Vietnam reported an additional 12,481 Covid-19 infections on Monday and 9,730 patients recovered from the disease the same day, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, 12,477 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 37 localities such as HCM City (7,122 cases), Binh Duong (2,194), Dong Nai (871), Long An (857), Tien Giang (234), Kien Giang (201), Tay Ninh (134), Khanh Hoa (97), and Dong Thap (95). There were four imported patients confirmed today.
The infection number showed a decrease of 624 infections compared to yesterday's figure. There were 8,099 infections found in the community.
As of Monday evening, 532,490 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April, with some southern localities recording high infections such as HCM City (258,536 cases), Binh Duong (134,627), Dong Nai (29,420), Long An (25,942), and Tien Giang (10,805). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 536,788. The country now stands 51st among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On September 6, an additional 9,730 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 301,457.
On Monday evening, a further 311 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 13,385. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (233), Binh Duong (39), Khanh Hoa (7), Dong Nai (6), Long An (5), Tien Giang (5), Kien Giang (3), Dong Tháp (2), Danang (2), Can Tho (2), Soc Trang (2), Binh Dinh (2), Hanoi (1), Vinh Long (1), and Tay Ninh (1).
The country has so far conducted over 22.01 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 3.33 million people having received two doses.
