New Covid-19 infections fall on Saturday

According to the ministry's report, 9,521 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 39 localities such as HCM City (4,104), Binh Duong (2,485), Dong Nai (992), Long An (544), Tien Giang (148), Tay Ninh (137), Kien Giang (125), Dong Thap (120), Quang Binh (110), and Binh Thuan (99).

The infection number showed a fall of 5,373 infections compared to yesterday's figure. There were 4,734 infections found in the community.
 
As of Saturday evening, 506,912 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April, with some southern localities recording high infections such as HCM City (245,188 cases), Binh Duong (128,893), Dong Nai (27,306), Long An (24,329), and Tien Giang (10,438). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 511,170. The country now stands 52nd among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On September 4, an additional 11,848 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 282,516.

On Saturday evening, a further 347 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 12,793. Some localities reported high number of deaths include HCM City (256), Binh Duong (45), Long An (9), Dong Thap (6), Dong Nai (5), Khanh Hoa (5), Tien Giang (5), Can Tho (4), Danang (4), Dak Lak (2), Hanoi (1), Binh Phuoc (1), Ca Mau (1), Nghe An (1), Quang Nam (1), and Vinh Long (1).

The country has so far conducted over 21.04 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 3.04 million people having received two doses.
