Vietnam announces nearly 10,000 more Covid-19 recoveries, new infections fall

According to the ministry's report, 11,429 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 39 localities such as HCM City (5,368 cases), Binh Duong (3,440), Dong Nai (759), Long An (594), Tien Giang (194), Khanh Hoa (112), Kien Giang (106), and Quang Binh (103). Five other patients were imported cases from other countries.

The infection number showed a decrease of 1,162 infections compared to yesterday's figure. There were 6,759 infections found in the community.

As of Wednesday evening, 469,311 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April, with some southern localities recording high infections such as HCM City (226,622 cases), Binh Duong (118,228), Dong Nai (24,525), and Long An (22,638). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 473,530. The country now stands 56th among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On September 1, an additional 9,862 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 248,722.

On Wednesday evening, a further 804 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 11,868. Some localities reported high number of deaths include HCM City (658), Binh Duong (78), Long An (14), Dong Nai (12), Dong Thap (10), and Tien Giang (9).

The country has so far conducted over 20.21 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 2.72 million people having received two doses.
