Ma Thi Hoa takes care of her husband, daughter and granddaughter who are all suffering from heart problems
According to the mother, her daughter Ma Thi Hoai divorced in 2010 and took her daughter to live with her. Four years later, she borrowed some money to pay for a labour exporting company and went to work in Taiwan as a home help. Just one year after that, when receiving news that her daughter had heart disease, Hoai had a stroke and became paralysed.
Hoai's father, Ma Dac Sy, had to put the house up as collateral for loans and with the help from several Vietnamese -Taiwanese people, they were able to bring Hoai home. Sy had to continue borrowing money for Hoai's treatment and incurred a huge debt.

In early 2020, Hoai's situation improved and her daughter was ready for heart surgery. However, her father suffered from heart failure and needed urgent surgery so her daughter's surgery was postponed. In late 2020, Hoai had another stroke and became bedbound completely. Her daughter's situation also worsened and strange rashes appeared on her body.
Without money, they can’t go to the hospital and the heart surgery of Hoai's daughter is still being delayed.

Dong Viet Huan, head of the residential cluster on Giang Binh Street confirmed that Hoai's family was one of the most difficult cases in the area. They hope the Hoai and her family would get help from the community to fight against heart disease.
