The Ministry of Health has named eight provinces which are lagging behind on Covid-19 vaccination.

The Ministry of Health has named eight provinces which are lagging behind on Covid-19 vaccination.

The localities are Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Tra Vinh, Binh Duong, Hau Giang, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Tien Giang and Thanh Hoa.

By Wednesday morning, the country had administered 11.34 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with 1.036 million having received two doses.

Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen said that the ministry has received a total 19 million Covid-19 vaccine doses, with around 18 million doses distributed to localities. Of the figure, 11.5 million doses are Astra Zeneca, the remainder is 12,000 doses of Sputnik V; 746,000 doses of Pfizer, five million doses of Moderna and 1.5 million doses of Sinopharm

However, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Tra Vinh, Binh Duong, Hau Giang, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Tien Giang and Thanh Hoa provinces have had a slow pace to their vaccination work.

The ministry has urged localities nationwide to speed up the vaccination.

Vietnam has been quickening Covid-19 vaccination with around 400,000 shots per day. The figure rose to nearly 600,000 on August 9. By August 15, around one million doses of Covid-19 vaccines will have been provided to localities.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health warned it would cancel the allocation of Covid-19 vaccines it has made to provinces and cities that are sluggish in vaccinating their residents.
