Many residents in Hanoi have been fined for ignoring social distancing regulations as the city has continued witnessing more local Covid-19 infections.

Hanoi has imposed a 15-day social distancing campaign starting from last Thursday. People are requested to stay at home and only go out in necessary cases such as buying food or medicines or to work at factories or businesses that are allowed to open.

People must keep a distance of at least two metres and are banned from public places, apart from workplaces, schools or hospitals



On Monday, police in Hang Dao Ward fined a man VND2 million (USD86.95) for doing exercises near Hoan Kiem Lake. He tried to run away when requested to stop.


The ward’s police often remind people to stay at home as much as possible for Covid-19 prevention. But some people still went to Hoan Kiem Lake area for relaxation.

Police in Hang Gai Ward stopped a range of vehicles for checks. People with reasonable reasons to travel are not detained or subject to fines.

Meanwhile, police in Dich Vong Ward, Cau Giay District also tightened Covid-19 prevention regulations. They fined a shop VND4 million which sold unnecessary products.

On Monday, two men in the ward were fined for drinking tea at the yard of an apartment building.
