HCM City becomes silent after curfew applied

HCM City’s streets became completely empty on the evening of July 26 following the night curfew from 6 pm to 6 am.

HCM City’s streets became completely empty on the evening of July 26 following the night curfew from 6 pm to 6 am.

Many congestion hotspots in the city became empty after 6 pm, only some building guards and environmental workers could be seen on the streets.

The curfew was imposed after various measures were applied but the virus has still spread and the situation has become worse. Despite social distancing rules, many people still found ways to get on to the streets, forcing the authorities to tighten the rules.

Leaders of the local people's committees and departments and units will be punished if they let an outbreak occurs in their areas.

Phan Van Hien, a security guard for a building on the opposite Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon said, "I’ve worked here for four years and I have never seen the city so empty. Even during the Tet Holiday. I hope the outbreak will end soon so everyone can resume their daily lives."
