The municipal Department of Health said the city is carrying out the fifth phase of its Covid-19 vaccination drive with 930,000 doses to be administered in five districts.

Lots of people came to Lang Binh Thang Gymnasium in District 11 for vaccination at around 7 am.

“Rain isn’t a problem. I’m very happy to be given the vaccination as the city is witnessing more new Covid-19 cases,” a local resident said.

People even brought hand wash with them as part of their anti-Covid-19 measures.

People who faced difficulties in moving were supported by medical workers and prioritised for early vaccination.

“I didn’t have a chance to be vaccinated earlier as my house was in a quarantined area. I'm lucky to get vaccinated this time," Vu Nhat Minh, in Tan Binh District, said.

People were asked to ensure safe distances while queuing.

Nearly 30 medical workers were arranged to serve the vaccination at the gymnasium.

Vu Ngoc Bao from District 11 said he went to the gymnasium at 7:30 am to avoid crowds.

People aged over 65 were instructed to go to their local hospitals for the vaccination

The first jabs were administered at 8 am today.
