According to the ministry's report, 2,367 of the newly-confirmed patients are locally-transmitted cases 2,096 whom were detected in quarantine sites or areas under lockdown in some localities including 1,764 in Ho Chi Minh City, 128 in Binh Duong, 118 in Tien Giang, 82 in Dong Nai, 58 in Khanh Hoa, 40 in Dong Thap, 30 in Phu Yen, 29 in Hanoi, 26 in Vinh Long, 14 in Danang, 11 in An Giang, eight in Binh Phuoc, eight in Tra Vinh, eight in Hau Giang, seven in Bac Giang, seven in Hung Yen, seven in Quang Ngai, five in Soc Trang, four in Bac Ninh, three in Tay Ninh, two in Bac Lieu, two in Thanh Hoa, two in Nam Dinh, and one each in Hue, Nghe An, Vinh Phuc, and Dak Nong.

Ho Chi Minh City continued to report the highest number of new infections in the country. On Sunday, the city also recorded 1,397 new patients, the majority of which are individuals who came into contact with confirmed Covid-19 patients or who were detected in either isolation and locked down areas. The city has imposed social distancing measures in 15 days starting from July 9 in an effort to prevent the virus spread.

As of Monday evening, 28,689 locally-transmitted cases have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country on April 27, including 14,776 in the virus hotspot of Ho Chi Minh City. The outbreak has so far spread to 58 cities and provinces nationwide.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 32,199 including 30,259 locally-transmitted cases.

As of 6 pm on July 12, a total of 9,331 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far there have been 123 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present, over 259,000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.

By the end of July 11, Vietnam has conducted over 4.05 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine. More than 277,000 people have received two doses of the vaccine.
