According to the ministry's report, 1,945 of the newly-confirmed patients are locally-transmitted cases most of whom were detected in quarantine sites or areas under lockdown in some localities including 1,397 in Ho Chi Minh City, 234 in Binh Duong, 50 in Dong Thap, 46 in Tien Giang, 46 in Long An, 43 in Vinh Long, 36 in Phu Yen, 13 in Bac Giang, 10 in Bac Ninh, nine in Hau Giang, seven in Ben Tre, seven in An Giang, seven in Hanoi, six in Danang, four in Ninh Thuan, three in Hung Yen, three in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, three in Soc Trang, two in Binh Phuoc, two in Ha Tinh, two in Binh Thuan, two in Binh Dinh, two in Lam Dong, two in Tra Vinh, two in Quang Ngai, and one each in Ca Mau, Quang Nam, Bac Lieu, Dak Nong, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, and Can Tho.

Ho Chi Minh City continued to report the highest number of new infections in the country. On Saturday, the city also recorded 1,320 new patients, the majority of which are individuals who came into contact with confirmed Covid-19 patients or who were detected in either isolation and locked down areas. The city has imposed social distancing measures in 15 days starting from July 9 in an effort to prevent the virus spread.

As of Sunday evening, 26,322 locally-transmitted cases have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country on April 27, including 13,012 in the virus hotspot of Ho Chi Minh City. The outbreak has so far spread to 58 cities and provinces nationwide.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 29,816 including 27,892 locally-transmitted cases.

As of 6 pm on July 11, a total of 9,275 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far there have been 116 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present, over 259,000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.

By the end of July 10, Vietnam has conducted over 4.04 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine. More than 271,000 people have received two doses of the vaccine.
