Vietnam has reported three more Covid-19 deaths who are all elderly patients with underlying medical conditions, raising the country’s death tally to 105.

The Ministry of Health confirmed the fatalities were in HCM City, Danang and Bac Giang.

The death in HCM City was a 74-year-old man who suffered from liver cancer, hypertension and diabetes. He tested positive for Covid-19 on June 17. Between June 18-25, he was treated at Can Gio Field Hospital and after that was moved to Trung Vuong Hospital. However, his condition worsened and he died on July 3.

The death in Danang’s Thanh Khe District was a 72-year-old woman with diabetes, overweight and heart failure. She tested positive for Covid-19 on July 19 and was taken to Danang Lung Hospital. But she poorly responded to the treatment and died on Wednesday morning.

The 67-year-old female patient in Bac Giang’s Viet Yen District became the country’s 105th death. Tested positive for Covid-19 on June 3, she was brought to Bac Giang Lung Hospital. Due to her worsening condition, she was provided with the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) method, but she did not improve.

On June 13, she was moved to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases for serious pneumonia and septic shock caused by Covid-19. She died on July 5.

Since April 27 when the fourth Covid-19 wave started hitting Vietnam, the country has witnessed 70 Covid-19-related deaths.
