The first patient at the jail was confirmed on June 27, after that the Covid-19 testing was conducted for all people who worked at the prison as well as prisoners.

As a result, 44 officials and staff and 36 prisoners have tested positive for the virus. The latest case was confirmed on July 5.
Some prisoners protested and caused disorder on hearing of the Covid-19 outbreak on Tuesday evening and police were brought in.
The police are now investigating which prisoners were involved in the disturbance.
A number of prisoners in Chi Hoa have been sent to Prison T30 in Cu Chi District to ensure social distancing.
