Ill family desperately calls for help

A woman in Ben Tre Province is in need of financial support to help cover medical treatment for her ill husband and children.

Vo Thi Xuan has nothing valuable in her house. Her husband, Le Hoang An has liver cancer and has gone through an operation in HCM City in 2008. He is now bed-bound and has to depend on other people for daily activities. Xuan's mother-in-law is both deaf and mute with weak health and Xuan's 3-year-old son suffers from kidney failure.

Xuan does odd jobs for little money and works hard all day to support her family. Unfortunately, in early 2021, she had a traffic accident and had her shoulder bones and jaw broken.

"After my health deteriorated, no one wants to hire me to work anymore. We spent hundreds of millions of VND in the past years and sold everything we could. We even borrowed VND200m (USD8,600) and have to pay VND2m in interest a month. We don't even have money to buy food," she said.

Nguyen Thieu Hoa, vice head of the Red Cross Organisation in Ba Tri District, said Xuan's family is one of the most difficult cases in the area. He hoped they would get help to overcome their difficulties.
