According to Phong, the current quarantine sites in HCM City are being managed by the city’s Military Command. Some of them still fail to ensure hygienic conditions which pose cross-infection risks.

Under Phong’s instruction, localities are not allowed to use schools for quarantine to ensure safety for Covid-19 prevention. He also urged to ensure waste treatment at quarantine facilities.

The municipal Department of Information and Communications needs to work with internet service providers to offer free Wi-Fi for people at quarantined sites.

Leaders of districts and Thu Duc Districts have been asked to work with local hotels to discount quarantine fees for people.

According to the chairman, many resettlement houses in the city have not yet been used, so they can quarantine around 5,000 people.

Phong also requested localities to pilot self-quarantine at homes in line with the Ministry of Health’s guidance.

The official has also instructed the check of 22 companies at the city’s industrial parks and export processing zones to see whether they can ensure quarantine conditions for their staff while still working.
