Vietnam confirmed 151 new Covid-19 cases over the past 12 hours as of 6 am Friday with the majority in HCM City, the Ministry of Health said.
Among the cases, 147 are locally infected in 10 localities, while the remainder is from abroad.
HCM City posted the highest number of patients with 118. Phu Yen (10), Dong Nai (5), An Giang (4), Long An (3), Nghe An (2), Dong Thap (2), Ha Tinh (1), Khanh Hoa (1), and Binh Phuoc (1). Of the patients, 122 were detected in quarantined or locked down areas, while 25 others are still under epidemic investigation to identify the origin of their infection.
By 6 am on Friday Vietnam reported 15,905 local infections and 1,822 cases from abroad. Since April 27, the country has confirmed 14,335 cases.
Yen Bai, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Tuyen Quang, Son La, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Thai Nguyen, Bac Lieu, Dien Bien, Vinh Phuc, Hai Duong, Phu Tho and Ha Nam have gone through 14 days without detecting any new cases
The country has reported 81 Covid-19-related deaths; while 7,247 cases have been discharged from hospital
Vietnam has administered over 3.81 million Covid vaccine shots, with 204,006 people having received two doses.
