Nghe An woman calls for help for terminally-ill husband and son

A woman in Nghe An Province is calling for financial support to help save her husband and son from cancer.

The family of 60-year-old Nguyen Thi Lam live in a small house in Sao Vang Village, Kim Thanh Commune. Lam's son Luong Quoc The, 33, has lived with liver cancer since 2018. While struggling to provide treatment for the son, her husband was also diagnosed with the last stage of esophagus cancer early this year.

Lam said they had three children together. Luong Quoc The is their only son who is working for a local company for a modest income.

"My two daughters have got married and they can't help much. Hospitals said they couldn't do anything more," Lam said.

Lam already sold their cattle and newly-harvested rice to buy medicine. She then does odd jobs in other farmers' fields to earn some money.

Luong Quoc Nghi, Lam's husband, said, "My son is still young. I wish I could exchange my life for him."
