Many northern mountainous localities would face hail, flash floods and landslides in the days to come due to heavy rains, the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has warned.
According to the centre, the northern region of Vietnam has been forecasted to see strong wind and torrential rain from the evening of June 11, because of being impacted by a low tropical pressure on the East Sea.
Lots of mountainous localities such as Dien Bien, Son La, Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang and Bac Kan would witness flash flood, hail and landslides.
The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has asked localities to timely update the weather information to have measures to ensure safety for the locals.
Localities also need to plan the people relocation in necessary cases. It is important for local residents to be instructed with skills to respond to extreme weather conditions effectively.
The low tropical pressure would cause torrential rains in the northern region and the central localities from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue between June 12-14. Hanoi would also see heavy rains during this time.
