According to reports from Hanoi police, on June 5, they found the marijuana plants growing in a garden of Frederec Tiberghien in Ngoc Thuy Ward, Long Bien District.

Police found and seized 115 marijuana plants from a garden of a French man in Hanoi
Police found and seized 115 marijuana plants weighing 34 kilos, and 40.268 grams of dried marijuana.
The 55-year-old French man and his Vietnamese wife said that they have hired the land plot of 3,000 square metres by the Red River for two years to grow fruit trees.
The man, who owns a tourism company in the northern province of Yen Bai, sometimes visits his Hanoi garden while the wife often stays here.
Some months ago, a friend gave him some marijuana seeds and he grew them besides the fruit trees.
The man claimed that he is growing the plants to use and has harvested several times.
Frederec Tiberghien has not been taken into custody but he is required not to leave his place of residence while police are investigating the case.
According to Vietnamese law, growing marijuana is punishable by a fine worth VND2-5 million (USD87-217) if the number of plants is under 500.
Violators may face a jail term of three to seven years for growing from 3,000 plants.
Foreign people may be expelled from Vietnam for the crime.
