Thousands at industrial parks receive Covid-19 vaccine jabs

Authorities in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces have started giving the first Covid-19 vaccine shots to a total of 240,000 workers at local industrial parks.

The first 100 workers from Funing Precision Component in Bac Ninh and 300 workers from Phu Hong Company in Bac Giang were given the first shots on May 27.

According to Bac Ninh authorities, about 90,000 workers will be vaccinated in total. Bac Giang authorities are also rushing to roll out the vaccines, It is estimated that 150,000 workers in Bac Giang will be vaccinated.

In the recent virus outbreak which broke out on April 27, Vietnam has reported a total of 3,254 Covid-19 infections in a month including 1,648 in the virus epicentre of Bac Giang. The new variant is spreading much faster, especially inside industrial parks with a high number of workers.

Bac Giang authorities have temporarily closed the four industrial parks of Van Trung, Dinh Tram, Song Khe-Noi Hoang, and Quang Chau which have reported a large outbreak for Covid-19 prevention and control.

As of May 26, 1,034,867 Covid-19 vaccine shots had been given in Vietnam. 28,522 people have been given both shots. Frontline workers, police, military personnel and members of the Covid-19 prevention committees have been prioritised as they work directly with the patients.
