Many streets in Hanoi have become quiet after local people were advised to stay indoors for Covid-19 prevention following the rising number locally-transmitted cases reported over the last days.

Many shops closed early on the evening of May 6 while street-side tea stalls and eateries have also been cleared following a ban issued on May 3.

Many stations were set up on Hang Gai Street in the Old Quarter for Covid-19 Prevention and Control. Hanoi chairman Chu Ngoc Anh has advised local people to stay indoors as the city may face a rising number of new infections in the community in the coming days.

At 8.30pm, almost all shops along the busy Hang Dao - Dong Xuan streets were already closed.
