According to Hanoi CDC, the 37-year-old expert entered Vietnam on April 17 to work at Vinfast and was quarantined at Canh Hung Hotel in Hai Phong City. He tested negative twice on April 19 and 30 in Hai Phong.

On May 1, he took a taxi with his wife and children to Times City apartment building in Hoang Mai District, Hanoi and went to a local hospital on May 3. The results showed that he was positive for SARS-CoV-2.


He was then transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Reports from Hanoi CDC showed that the man had been staying home after the quarantine. Six people have been quarantined after coming into close contact with the patient including his wife, his two children and three people living in the same building.


Hanoi authorities have shut down Park 10 Building, Times City with 1,500 residents. 41 people living on the same floor were also given viral tests. The taxi driver was also tested and quarantined in Hai Phong.
