Train drivers of the Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line
A representative from the Hanoi Metro Company said that they still need over 100 staff to operate the line.
"We are seeking candidates for 107 vacancies for engineering workers and operation workers at various sections by mid-April," the representative said. "We started recruiting staff for training last year but many have left when the project was delayed multiple times."
According to the company, the route will need a total of 681 staff in 112 positions. Payment will be carried out following policies for state-owned enterprises. Train drivers will be paid between VND 13-17 million (USD 565-739) a month depending on qualifications and experience.
This Hanoi’s first metro line is set to be handed over to Hanoi's authorities in May for commercial operation.
On March 31, the Chinese contractor, China Railway Sixth Group Co Ltd, began the handover process which is expected to take three to four weeks.
The project was started in 2011 and initially slated to become operational in 2017, but was then delayed many times. The project’s total investment increased to VND18 trillion (USD783 million) from the VND8.7 trillion (USD381 million).
The metro line would help shorten travel times from Cat Linh in Dong Da District to Yen Nghia Station in Ha Dong District to 20 minutes compared to 45 minutes by car.
