7-year-old boy wishes for a normal life after mother's death

A seven-year-old orphan in Bac Giang Province is in desperate need of financial support to cover medical treatment for a strange disease after his mother died of lung cancer.

Bui Van Phuc does not know who his father is and his mother died when he was only four years old. Because of his illness, many strangers were scared when they first saw him and other children mocked him. He still does not have any teeth and his skin has an ashy colour.

Nguyen Thi Hoa, an employee of the Red Cross Organisation in Tam Hiep Commune said, "He is a really good boy but I saw him cried alone many times."

Phuc's mother has eight siblings. Phuc's grandparents died when his mother was 7 years old. In 2017, his mother was diagnosed with cancer and died one year later. Since then, Phuc has lived with each relative for a period of time.

Ha Thi Hai, Phuc's aunt, said all of Phuc's food had to be pureed and he could only eat very little. Phuc's health is not good and he becomes sick very easily.

"He doesn't have skin pores so he has chapped skin in the winter and sunburn and frequent allergies in the summer. He needs to carefully look after his personal hygiene," Hai said. "We can't bring him to the hospital yet because our family and siblings are poor too."

"I want to go to the hospital. I want to know why I'm sick and I don't want other kids mocking me," Phuc said.
