According to Project RENEW/Norwegian People's Aid (RENEW/NPA), while digging a foundation to build a house in Ward 1, Dong Ha City, a local resident named Ta Thanh Dat discovered the materials and bullets.
The explosive materials found in Quang Tri
The mobile Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team of the project quickly came to the site and found 22 explosive materials and 350 bullets.
EOD teams of the NPA/RENEW project have received 106 calls from local people that have discovered explosive materials so far this year.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 500 explosive materials have been relocated and detonated safely.
Norwegian People’s Aid is also co-operating with the central province of Quang Tri to settle post-war bomb and landmine impacts in the locality under the funding of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United States Department of State and the UK.
Quang Tri is among localities hardest hit by bombs and mines during the American War.
