A man died and two others were injured after a van plunged into a valley in Nghe An Province.

The police in Ky Son District said on March 3 that they were still investigating the case. Mua Ba Gio, chairman of Na Ngoi Commune People's Committee said the Ford Ranger was carrying two employees of the district inspectorate and another man.

“The employees were passing through Na Ngoi Commune after they completed their business trip in another commune," Gio said.

At 4 pm on March 2, the van which was driven by one of the two inspectorate officers suddenly plunged into the valley in Tong Khu Village, Na Ngoi Commune, which is over 100 metres deep. The van rolled several times before it stopped at the bottom of the valley.

All three men crawled out of the van. The authorities and the local people quickly climbed down to the valley to rescue the men. However, the driver died 30 minutes later.

"This road section is quite smooth so we’re unsure what had caused the van to fall into the valley," Gio said.

The authorities have not been able to pull the van out of the valley.
