Vietnam to import thousands of Covid-19 vaccines in February

Vietnam to import Covid-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca

The administration issued the official document about importing medicines without registration of circulation in Vietnam in an urgent situation to deal with Covid-19.

AstraZeneca Vietnam will import and roll out the vaccine in accordance with the regulations. They must take all responsibility for the vaccine's origin, quality and usage purposes. The vaccines are expected to arrive in Vietnam on February 28.

On February 1, the Ministry of Health issued the permit to import the Covid-19 vaccine based on the test results as of January 28. The company was asked to work with the Department of Science,Technology and Training to start clinical trials in Vietnam.

Also in late February, Vietnam will receive 4.88 million doses of vaccines from the Covax Facility Programme. The majority of the procedures have been completed.

The Covax Facility led by WHO and CEPI GAVI aims to ensure a global equitable access to Covid-19 vaccines. Doses for at least 20% of the countries' populations will be provided to the members.
