Nine more locally-transmitted Covid-19 cases confirmed on Thursday evening

According to the ministry's report, all of the newly found patients were infected in the community and linked to the hotspots Hai Duong province and Van Don Airport in Quang Ninh Province. They include one in Hanoi, one in Hai Duong, two in Quang Ninh, one in Binh Duong, and four in Gia Lai provinces.

The new virus outbreak has so far spread to ten provinces and cities including Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Hanoi, Gia Lai, Hoa Binh, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hai Phong, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 1,957, including 1,068 locally-transmitted cases with 375 cases reported since the new outbreak started in Hai Duong on January 28.

As of 6 pm on February 4, a total of 1,465 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present, as many as 65,452 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
