
Six Vietnamese citizens were detained for illegally entering Vietnam from Laos through the Bo Y International Border Gate in Kon Tum Province on January 14.
According to local border officers, they found the six people while they were going through a forest in Bo Y Commune, Ngoc Hoi District on January 14.
The six including five men and a woman aged between 21-49 told the police that they returned from Laos and wanted to go back to their hometown in the central province of Nghe An.
The group were detained and sent to a local quarantine area for Covid-19 prevention.
Authorities in Kon Tum have recently intensified control over the border lines to prevent illegal crossings which are predicted to rise ahead of the Lunar New Year.
