Many areas in Y Ty Commune in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai have been covered in snow since Monday morning.
A local man, Tuan Ngoc, said that snow has started falling from 10pm on January 10 as the temperature fell to below zero degree centigrade.
By 9am on January 11, many areas in the commune had been covered in thick layers of snow.
Snow and frost have helped attract lots of tourists to the area but badly affected the lives of local people and animals.
Besides Y Ty, snow has also been reported on Fansipan Mountain and O Quy Ho Hill on Sunday night.
