Busy night at central Vietnam’s largest fish port

Tho Quang fish port is often busy at night when hundreds of people concentrate on classifying fish for the next early morning market.

The atmosphere at the port is more exciting with the sound from fishing boats’ engines.

All fishermen try to hasten to ensure that they arrive at the port timely for the fish classification.

The busiest time at the port is around 1 am.

 

At this time of the year, mackerel and tuna are the most popular.

The port has generated jobs for many different people such as porters.

Thu Hoa, 43, said that every day she works at the port, starting from midnight to early morning the next day. Despite the hard work, the income is quite good.

Most of the fish porters are from poor families.
