
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu transferred Resolution 1111 to HCM City authorities.
Thu Duc City was established after merging lands with a part of District 2 and District 9. The city has 211.65 square kilometres with a population of 1,013,795. The city will be developed into an eastern creative urban area of HCM City.
HCM City People's Committee Chairman said Thu Duc City would help better trim down the administrative system and boost the local socio-economic development. It is hoped that Thu Duc City will contribute 30% to HCM City's GDP and 7% to Vietnam's GDP.
At the ceremony, Hoang Thanh Tung, Chairman of the National Assembly Committee for Legal Affairs, read Resolution 1111 on arranging administrative units at district and commune levels.
Afterwards, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu announced the establishment of Thu Duc City and transferred Resolution 1111 to HCM City authorities.
