
According to the ministry's report, one of the newly-infected patients is a 26-year-old man who returned from Germany at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh Province on December 18.
He was sent to a quarantine area in Hung Yen Province upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in his second testing on December 30.
The patient is now being treated at the Hanoi-based Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
The other patient is a 70-year-old woman who returned from Canada at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on December 29.
She was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and is now being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.
With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 762.
As of 6 pm on December 30, a total of 1,323 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.
At present, 16,700 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
