A woman in the southern province of Dong Thap has tested positive for Covid-19 after taking the same journey with a previously reported positive case that illegally entered the country.
The test result was announced on Monday by Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute.
The woman is staying at Sa Dec General Hospital in Dong Thap.
On December 24, she and five other men, including a man from Vinh Long Province, took the same car to travel from An Giang to Long An Province.
Earlier, the Vinh Long man illegally entered Vietnam from Vietnam to avoid a 14-day quarantine. He was then confirmed as a Covid-19 patient on December 24.
Doan Tan Buu, vice chairman of Dong Thap People’s Committee, said that the woman had closed contact with four members in her family. Authorities have continued defining other people related to her.
On Monday, a man in HCM City also tested positive for Covid-19 following the same trip with Patient 1440.
