The bus pulled over by the police.

Vo Cao Phi, Office Chief of Phu Yen People's Committee, said they had sent many employees and asked local people to look for the man.

At 10 am on December 28, the police received a report from local people about a passenger bus which was carrying many foreign people. After checking the bus, the police found out that there are eight Vietnamese and eight Chinese nationals.

"All of the Chinese nationals had personal papers with them but they don't have enough required papers to prove that they had legally entered Vietnam. All 16 people on the bus have been transferred to quarantine areas for testing," Phi said.

However, according to the report, one man who is suspected to be a Chinese national ran away into the forest when the police arrived.

"Phu Yen People's Committee Chairman Tran Huu The has asked the police and the district and town authorities to search for the man," Phi said.

As of 10 pm on the same day, Nguyen Thi Mong Ngoc, director of Phu Yen Department of Health said the first test results for 16 people on the bus had come back negative.
