According to the ministry, they have received requests from Hanoi's NA deputies to change the technical structure and the name of Me So Bridge Project which connects Thuong Tin District in Hanoi with Van Giang District in Hung Yen Province. They will consider the request while carrying out research to build more bridges crossing the Red River.

Me So Bridge is a part of the Ring Road 4 Project and the ministry is completing the pre-feasibility study report before submitting it to the National Assembly. During this time, they will consider different designs of the bridge as well as other factors like investment, maintenance and how it will match the surrounding scenery.

Only after the technical tasks are completed would they think about the name of the bridge following the Road Traffic Law 2008.

According to the Hanoi Transport Development Master Plan to 2030 with a view to 2050 which was approved by the PM in 2016, Hanoi will build nine more bridges to help ease overloading on Me So Bridge and make transport more convenient.

The bridges will be Hong Ha, New Thang Long, Tu Lien, Thuong Cat, Ngoc Hoi, Tran Hung Dao, Phu Xuyen and Van Phuc bridges and Vinh Tuy Bridge II.
