All of the border-crossers were sent back to Vietnam via Huu Nghi Border Gate in Lang Son Province. They are from various provinces and cities and wanted to go to China to find jobs. When they were caught by Chinese police, they didn't have any legal papers with them.

The police in Lang Son quickly checked their body temperature, reviewed their identities and sent them to quarantine centres for Covid-19 prevention.

On December 16, Lang Son police announced that they discovered two wanted drug dealers were among 137 border-crossers. The two dealers were investigated by the police in Bac Giang Province. After they ran away, the police in Lang Son issued the wanted warrant. One of the two dealers had been on the run since 2013.

The police in Lang Son are completing procedures to suitably arrange the border-crossers and the two drug dealers.
