Vietnam reports seven imported Covid-19 cases on Wednesday

Seven people who recently arrived in Vietnam from five different countries have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 1,358, the Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday evening.

According to the ministry's report, the new patients include three people who returned from France in Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat Airport on November 30. They were sent to a quarantine area in Dong Nai Province upon arrival and are now being treated at a local hospital.

The next patient is a 10-month-old baby girl who returned from Russia at Cam Ranh Airport on November 11. She had tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 three consecutive times on November 12, 16, and 18 before the results came positive in the fourth testing on November 30.

The patient is now being treated at the Cam Ranh General Hospital.

The other three patients recently returned from the US, the Philippines and UAE and were sent to quarantine areas upon arrival. They are now being treated at hospitals in Danang, Can Tho, and Hanoi.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 664.

As of 6 pm on December 2, a total of 1,201 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present, 15,503 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
