Vietnam records eight new Covid-19 cases on Friday, tally reaches 1,339

Five Vietnamese people, two Russian and a Japanese nationals who recently arrived in Vietnam have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 1,339.

According to the ministry's report, four of the new patients including a 31-year-old Russian woman, her one-year-old daughter, and two Vietnamese men aged 30 and 38 returned from Russia on November 24 at Cam Ranh Airport in Khanh Hoa Province.

They were sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and are now being treated at local healthcare facilities.

Another patient is a 28-year-old Vietnamese man who returned from the UK on November 6 at Van Don International Airport.

He was sent to quarantine in Nam Dinh Province and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on November 26.

He is now being treated at the Hanoi-based National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

One other patient is a 30-year-old Japanese man who arrived from Japan at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on November 25.

He was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and tested positive for coronavirus the same day.

The patient is now being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.

The next patient is a 45-year-old Vietnamese woman who returned from Russia on November 11 at Cam Ranh Airport in Khanh Hoa Province.

She was sent to a quarantine area in HCM City upon arrival and is now being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.

Earlier, 24 other people who boarded this flight had been infected with coronavirus and are now being treated in Khanh Hoa Province and Ho Chi Minh City.

The last patient is a 36-year-old Vietnamese man who returned from France on November 11 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.

She was sent to a quarantine area in HCM City upon arrival and is now being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.

Earlier, six other people who boarded this flight had been infected with coronavirus and are now being treated in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Povince and Ho Chi Minh City.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 648.

As of 6 pm on November 27, a total of 1,170 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

The country has gone 85 days without reporting any new case in the community.

At present, over 15,000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
