
The roof of a warehouse collapsed during the Storm Molave at Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Company, killing three workers on October 28.
The most serious accident occurred at 11.28 am on October 28. Six workers were driving across the complex when the roof of a warehouse was ripped off by the Storm Molave and crushed the workers. Three people died and two were injured in the accident.
According to the inspectors, the workers were already allowed to take a leave of absence because of the storm but they decided to take shelter at the company and were not duly aware of the dangers when they moved across the complex. The leaders the company were also held responsible for negligence, by letting their employees move in the complex during strong winds without monitoring.
The inspectors called for the director and deputy director of the raw material factory to be punished. The company must also compensate the employees' families.
