As many as 290 Vietnamese citizens from the Czech Republic were brought home on a repatriation flight which landed safely at Can Tho International Airport on November 22.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the flight was arranged by authorities of the two countries and Bamboo Airways.

Staff at the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic were sent to the Vaclav Havel International Airport in Prague to help the citizens with necessary procedures for the flight.

Passengers include children aged under 18, the elderly, the ill, workers whose visas or labour contracts expired, students with no residences due to dormitory closures and those in extremely difficult circumstances.

After landing at the airport, all passengers and crew members of the flights were given health check-ups and sent to quarantine areas.

To date, 204 repatriation flights have been arranged by Vietnamese authorities since April 10 to help 57,712 local people stranded abroad due to Covid-19 return home, the ministry said, adding that more such flights are set to be conducted in the coming time.

On Sunday, Vietnam recorded one more imported Covid-19 case, raising the patient tally to 1,307, according to the Ministry of Heath.

The country had gone through 81 straight days without reporting any new case in the community.
