Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh on Sunday visited and gave gifts to flood victims in the central province of Nghe An.
During a working visit at the province, the vice state president gave VND2.4 billion (USD104,347) to help the local people after the devastating flood in October.
The donations include VND2 billion from the Central Relief Committee and VND410 million from the vice president's delegation.
The delegation came to Thanh Chuong District which was among the hardest-hit localities in the flood with over 4,100 households affected. The estimated losses caused by the flood reached VND 75 billion (USD3.3million).
The vice president asked local authorities to try to rebuild infrastructure and help residents soon resettle their lives. She gave VND500 million in donation from the Central Relief Committee to support the district.
The delegation also gave presents to 30 local families and 30 students from low-income families.
During the flood in late October, 102 communes in Nghe An Province were severely submerged. Over 19,000 houses were flooded and some 8,000 households had to leave their houses.
