At that time, the vessel was sheltering to avoid Storm Etau in the area around 45 nautical miles off the north-northeast of Nha Trang coast while being on the way to transport iron from Malaysia to China.

Nguyen Xuan Binh, director of the centre, said that the crewman was Wang Shihua, 38, from China. He was severely injured in an accident, causing profuse bleeding and even the risk of brain drain.

After being informed of the case, the centre immediately sent rescue ship SAR413 for support. The injured man was taken to Nha Trang Port at 7:30 pm the same day.

Storm Etau has brought torrential rain for Khanh Hoa Province, leaving two deaths and damaging nearly 300 local houses.
