People in Quang Ninh quarantined due to suspected Covid-19 case

Around 100 people in the northern province of Quang Ninh have been put under quarantine after having close contact with a man who is suspected of contracting Covid-19.

The man, 54, in Hanoi returned to Vietnam from Russia on October 31 through Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh. He was then quarantined at Bach Dang Hotel in Ha Long City.

On the same day, he took the first Covid-19 test which then had a negative result. On November 3, he also tested negative for the virus in the second test.

However, he faced the high fever and breathing difficulties. After that, he was sent to Quang Ninh General Hospital for treatment.

On November 3, he tested positive for the virus. He has been moved to the National Hospital for Tropical Disease for the treatment.

The flight from Russia to Van Don International Airport had 347 passengers, including 74 being quarantined in Quang Ninh.

Quang Ninh authorities defined 97 people who came into direct contact with the man with the majority being staff at Quang Ninh General Hospital and the hotel in which he stayed at.

All of 17 hospital staff have tested negative for the virus.
