According to the ministry's report, 10 of the new patients aged between 2-51 returned from Russia at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh Province on October 31.
They were sent to quarantine areas in Hoa Binh and Hung Yen provinces upon arrival and tested positive for coronavirus on November 1 and 2.
The patients are now being treated at hospitals in Hanoi and Hoa Binh.
The two other patients are a 20-year-old male student and a 56-year-old woman from the US who landed at Cam Ranh Airport in Khanh Hoa Province on October 30 after transiting at Narita Airport in Japan on October 29.
They were sent to a quarantine area in Nha Trang City upon arrival and are now being treated at the Khanh Hoa Provincial Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 501.
As of 6 pm on November 2, a total of 1,065 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.
The country has gone 61 days without reporting any new case in the community.
At present,14,775 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
