At Ha Huy Tap Primary School in Ward 3, Binh Thanh District, many kids were taken home from school by their parents. However, they did not wear a helmet on while sitting on a motorbike.

The same situation was reported around Hong Bang Secondary School in District 5. Some parents brought helmets along with them but did not use them for their children.

The same scenes can be seen in suburban areas, not just schools in inner-city areas.

On September 27, at a recent ceremony to raise the percentage of children wearing helmets in HCM City, the municipal people’s committee Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong said the city would bolster communications on wearing helmets and dissemination of traffic regulations in schools.
According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, the death toll from traffic accidents declined to over 8,200 in 2018 from nearly 12,000 recorded six years earlier.
