Employees escape from the third floor

The fire broke out at the Hoa Anh Dao Textile Printing Company on Nguyen Hong Dao Street at 7.30 am on September 30. The employees and the local people tried to use the fire extinguisher but it was not effective enough.

The fire and the smoke went up to the second floor, panicking the employees on the five-storey building. Several people made a rope out of long cloth and tied it to the third-floor balcony to escape outside.

According to a 24-year-old employee, they were starting to work when they saw the smoke and heard other people screaming from the lower floors. Since the employees had taken training courses about fire prevention, they were able to remain calm and follow the escape instructions.

Fire fighters arrived later and put out the fire after 30 minutes. They also rescued two other employees who were stuck on the second floor. A witness said five employees were able to escape outside.

Initial investigation showed that a machine on the ground floor caused the fire when it was started-up.
