A project to upgrade classrooms at a primary school in the northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang has been kicked off.

The project at Linh Phu Primary School in Chiem Hoa District has a total investment of VND530 million (USD23,043) with the majority funded by Kangaroo Group through Dantri/DTiNews Newspaper.

The project is aimed to upgrade two classrooms and rooms for teachers as well as build toilets for the school.

The ground-breaking ceremony of the project


An article about the deterioration of Linh Phu Primary School was previously published on Dantri/DTiNews. Kangaroo Group then surveyed the site and decided to make a donation to the project’s implementation.

At the ground-breaking ceremony, Pham Tuan Anh, Editor-in-chief of Dantri/DTiNews, said that over the past 15 years, the newspaper had helped to carry out nearly 40 classroom projects and 17 bridge projects nationwide, including many in mountainous areas.

On September 28, the newspaper and donors will start the construction of the 18th bridge in the central province of Nghe An.

In the early morning, teachers and students of the school were present to attend the ground-breaking ceremony.

At the event, Editor-in-chief Pham Tuan and Miss Vietnam 2016’s first runner-up Ngo Thanh Tu who is Kangaroo Group’s representative granted 170 gifts for the school students on the occasion of the coming Mid-autumn.

Linh Phu is a disadvantaged commune of Chiem Hoa District. The commune is home to 11 ethnic minority groups with a high rate of poor households.
