At a meeting on Covid-19 prevention on Monday, vice-chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy ordered all local restaurants and cafes to conform to social distancing regulations as part of Covid-19 prevention efforts.

Many restaurants and cafes in Hanoi have blatantly ignored social distancing regulations amid the on-going Covid-19 pandemic
According to Quy, from 12 am on August 19, food and beverage places, beer pubs must arrange seats at least one metre from each other.
However, on the morning of August 19, most of the restaurants and cafes in the Hanoi Old Quarter did not comply with the regulations. People still sit seat by side, instead of ensuring the minimum distance of one metre.
Many customers forgot to wear a face mask after finishing their meal.

Street water stalls also violate the social distancing order
A restaurant owner said that his restaurant is very small so the social distancing is implemented as the space was only enough for 1-2 tables.
Many people also do not wear a face mask on streets despite local authorities’ request.
Since July 25, Hanoi has registered 33 Covid-19 cases, including 10 community transmission infections, without any deaths.
