According to the Ministry of Health, the first death is the patient numbered 428. He was a 70-year-old man from Hoi An, Quang Nam Province.

He was admitted to Department of Nephrology - Urology - Hemodialysis of Danang Hospital on July 9 while in need of hemodialysis as he was in the last stage of kidney disease. He also had blood pressure problems, heart disease and pneumonia.

He was taken test samples and the result came back positive on July 27.

Danang has registered 80 cases including eight medical staff, 44 in-patients, 26 family members and two other community cases. On July 31 alone, Vietnam has 45 new cases. The patients have been quarantined and taken test samples.

Five other cities and provinces also reported 13 more new cases. Seven new cases are in Quang Nam, two cases in Hanoi, two cases in HCM City and one in Quang Ngai and Dak Lak each. All of the new patients are related to the Danang outbreak.
