The new patients, aged between 42 and 55, landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in southern Ho Chi Minh City on July 11 and were quarantined in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province immediately upon arrival.

They first tested negative for the virus on July 13. Their samples were taken for the second test at the Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute on July 21 and the results came out positive. They are now being treated at Ba Ria Hospital.

Earlier, 10 Russian experts who boarded the same flight had been infected with the virus and are also being treated at the Ba Ria Hospital.

As of July 22 evening, Vietnam has gone through 97 days without any community transmissions, the committee said.

Of the patient tally, 365 have fully recovered and there have been no deaths.At present,12,480people who had close contact with patients or entered from virus-hit areas are being quarantined at hospitals, centralised quarantine areas or at home.
